Interviewer: Good day, Pastor. Thank you for taking the time to sit down with us today. Let's jump right in. You've been serving as the Pastor of Beacon Light Ministries, Inc. for a decade now. What initially drew you to ministry, and what has kept you passionate about it for over 25 years?
Pastor: Thank you for having me. Well, I've always felt a deep calling to serve others and share the message of faith and hope. Ministry allows me to do just that on a profound level. Over the years, witnessing the positive impact faith can have on people's lives has been incredibly rewarding and fuels my passion to continue serving. Interviewer: Your background as a teacher and school counselor spans over 35 years. How has your experience in education informed your approach to ministry, and vice versa? Pastor: Education and ministry share the common goal of nurturing growth and development, whether it be intellectual, emotional, or spiritual. My experience in education has taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and meeting individuals where they are. These principles are equally applicable in ministry, as they enable me to effectively connect with and support members of my congregation. Interviewer: It's impressive to see your educational background, including degrees from Alabama State University and additional studies in Emotional Conflict from the University of Alabama. How have these academic pursuits shaped your understanding of human nature and your ability to provide counseling within your ministry? Pastor: Education has always been a cornerstone of my life, both personally and professionally. My academic studies have provided me with valuable insights into human behavior, emotional dynamics, and conflict resolution techniques. These insights inform my pastoral counseling sessions, allowing me to offer holistic support to individuals facing various challenges in their lives. Interviewer: Beyond your professional roles, you've been extensively involved in community service, from serving as a volunteer bible teacher to overseeing the BLM Care Community Ministry. What drives your commitment to giving back to the community, and how do you balance these responsibilities with your pastoral duties? Pastor: My commitment to community service stems from a deep-seated belief in the importance of serving others and making a positive difference in the world. Balancing these responsibilities can be challenging at times, but it's all about prioritization, effective time management, and relying on the support of my congregation and fellow volunteers. Ultimately, the fulfillment I derive from serving others makes it all worthwhile. Interviewer: Lastly, as a devoted mother and grandmother, how do you integrate your family life with your professional and community commitments? And what do you enjoy most about spending time with your grandchildren? Pastor: Family is the foundation of everything I do, and I am incredibly grateful for their unwavering support and understanding. While balancing my various roles can be demanding, I prioritize quality time with my loved ones and ensure that they remain at the forefront of my life. As for my grandchildren, they bring immense joy and laughter into my life. I cherish every moment spent with them, whether it's going on short trips or simply sharing stories and laughter at home. Interviewer: Thank you, Pastor, for sharing your insights and experiences with us today. Your dedication to serving others, both in your professional and personal life, is truly inspiring. Pastor: Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey. It's been a pleasure speaking with you. |
